Collective kitchens

Once a month, the collective kitchen brings together a small group of people who help each other make economical, healthy and appetizing meals that everyone takes home.

These kitchens are for people aged 18 years and older who are experiencing food insecurity and live in the cities of La Prairie, Saint-Constant, Sainte-Catherine and Delson. Participants must be autonomous, efficient and have a minimum of cooking knowledge.

Collective kitchens for seniors

In collaboration with the city of Sainte-Catherine, la cuisine collective (the collective kitchen) is held once a month. It aims to promote better nutrition at a low cost, to reduce isolation and to develop culinary skills.

Are you 60 or older, living alone and a resident of Sainte-Catherine? Are you autonomous and want to learn how to cook simple and delicious meals? This is the perfect activity for you!

Culinary workshops

Culinary workshops are fun opportunities to share and learn about topics related to good food consumption practices. We learn how to read labels, make healthy and nutritious choices, cook simple and economical meals for the whole family and much more.

These meetings are intended for people aged 18 and over who are experiencing food insecurity and live in the cities of La Prairie, Saint-Constant or Sainte-Catherine.

Full little bellies

Our cook and volunteers prepare two snacks and a healthy, nutritious lunch every school day for children experiencing food insecurity who are referred by elementary school principals. The lunch boxes are delivered to the schools each morning, ensuring that the children’s anonymity is protected. When the boxes are delivered, a teacher distributes them to the children’s lockers while they are in class.

Sponsor a child
Feeding a child during the school year costs $1,000, or $5 per day.

Repas Réconfortants Desjardins (Desjardins Comfort Meals)

Thanks to the contribution of the Grand Mouvement Desjardins fund, the partnership of the Centre de service scolaire des Grandes Seigneuries, high schools and volunteers, we offer culinary workshops to young teenagers in the region. Participating students develop culinary skills while learning about the issues of food insecurity that many families in their community experience. All cooked meals are distributed in our food aid programs.

Participating Schools
École des Timoniers, École Jean-de-la Mennais, École Jacques Leber

Collective gardens

We’re growing a collective garden with the youth of Carrefour jeunesse emploi Roussillon and several volunteers. Participants learn how to garden through various workshops. They sow, cultivate and harvest their fruits and vegetables. The goal is to guide them towards food autonomy.
Alongside the youth participants, we need volunteers to maintain the garden.

Food drive

Every year, on the first Sunday in December, volunteers go door to door in Saint-Constant, Saint-Catherine and La Prairie to collect money or non-perishable food items. The food collected is used to provide Christmas baskets to underprivileged families. The surplus is kept in our food bank for weekly food aid.

The money collected is used to purchase perishable goods such as milk, eggs, fruits, vegetables and meat.

Please consult this document to find out which foodstuffs are accepted.

Christmas Baskets

Every year, we provide Christmas baskets to people experiencing financial difficulties so that they can spend a beautiful holiday season with enough quality food. Having a full fridge means one less thing to worry about!

Registration is mandatory and takes place from October 1st to mid-November. A financial evaluation will be requested.
